Nico Johnson made his National Football League debut Friday night in a familiar place — the New Orleans Superdome.

The Kansas City Chiefs rookie, and former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker, had total of two tackles in his team’s 17-13 preseason loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Johnson played in the Superdome for the 2011 BCS National Championship, where his Alabama team defeated LSU 21-0.

In his debut, Johnson tackled one more player better than teammate Akeem Jordan.

Johnson and Jordan are currently in a battle for the starting inside linebackers spot.

The Chiefs got off to a great start, going into the second quarter with a 10-0 lead.

New Orleans then went on to tack on 17 unanswered points in the second and third quarters to lead 17-10 after the first 45 minutes.

Kansas City added a field goal in the fourth quarter to cut the lead by four points.

The Chiefs’ next preseason game will be on Friday as they host the San Francisco 49ers.

Kick off is at 7 p.m.
